ATHR Gallery nurtures the region's contemporary art, showcasing both emerging and established artists. As part of AlUla Arts Festival 2025, the Gallery presents Echoes of Time by Daniah Al Saleh and Susanne Kriemann.
This exhibition bridges the ancient and the contemporary, exploring how both ordinary and extraordinary discoveries shape our understanding and influence narratives that combine historical legacies and present realities. Set against the backdrop of the archaeological sites of Tayma and AlUla, viewers are invited to rethink the desert landscape, not merely as a relic but as a realm where history and the present intersect in a myriad of ways.
Daniah Al Saleh is a Saudi based artist whose work delves into how memory and cultural conditioning shape our perceptions and behaviours. She explores the ways messages and beliefs are absorbed and communicated through media and various networks, and her work deconstructs established meanings and explores alternative viewpoints.
Susanne Kreimann is a Berlin-based artist and professor of Code & Image at the University of Arts and Design Karlsruhe.
She explores landscapes as analogue ‘recording systems’ for human-caused processes. An intrinsic feature of her work is the inclusion of the site-specific research material in prints and exhibitions.
