Techniques such as sewing, weaving, jewellery making, embroidery, and wood carving are being kept alive by local women at Madrasat Addeera. The exquisite handicrafts they make are available to buy and help to support the community’s economy.

Use Beauty Products Made From Locally Grown Moringa

Small seeds from the moringa tree – nicknamed the miracle tree – yield a valuable oil that is versatile, rich in healing properties and beautifully symbolic of the relationship between the people of AlUla and the soil. All kinds of cosmetics, fragrances and foods containing the premium oil yielded from the 90,000 moringa trees cultivated at the ancient Saudi site are available to buy from boutiques in AlUla’s Old Town.

Observe Local Farming at Daimumah 

The Oasis gave life to AlUla and continues to help it thrive today. Thanks to these natural underground waters, local farmers are able to work the land at Daimumah and supply many of the nearby restaurants with produce grown on the sustainable farm. Take a self-guided walk under shady palm trees along the pleasant pathways of this working farm, enjoy the botanical gardens, and see old mudbrick homes to grasp how the natural landscape lives in harmony with AlUla.

Admire the Lion Tombs at Dadan

The excavation of an ancient city under the sand at Dadan led to astonishment from archaeologists, even more so when two carved lions were found at the entrance to two of the tombs positioned 50 metres above the ground. Investigate this fascinating archaeological phenomenon from the 9th century BCE during a tour of Dadan and Jabal Ikmah in a vintage Land Rover.
