An Elevated Perspective:
Spotlight on the 2023 AlUla Skies Festival
From 26th April to 13th May 2023, the spectacular annual festival featured a packed schedule over a period of two weeks with hot air balloon rides offering stunning panoramic vistas of the region’s unique rock formations, undulating dunes, historic monuments, and helicopter tours providing an adrenaline-fuelled experience and unparalleled views of AlUla’s raw beauty from exhilarating heights.
Other highlights included a spectacular glow show where hot air balloons illuminated the majestic Maraya, the world’s largest mirrored building, while stargazing sessions and astrophotography workshops led by expert guides offered participants a chance to witness the wonder of the constellations that stud AlUla’s inky night skies - amongst the darkest and clearest in the world due to minimal light pollution. Moreover, visitors had the chance to marvel at Hundreds of colourful kites soaring through the air as part of the fabulous sky-themed celebrations, while also getting an opportunity to test their kite-flying skills.

Other popular attractions included a daily open-air cinema screenings that provided a unique cinematic experience against a backdrop of rugged sandstone cliffs and canyons, where the natural splendor seamlessly merged with the magic of the silver screen, while moviegoers enjoyed the unique seating setup in vintage pickup cars, allowing them to indulge in an exceptional viewing experience.
