Since they founded their luxury label in 1985, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have consistently presented astonishing fashion shows at some of the world’s most beautiful venues. But their runway show at AlUla in January 2022 stands out as a landmark moment for the Italian fashion brand – and for AlUla.
Stefano Gabbana: “Saudi Arabia is an amazing place, rich in history, traditions, culture and wonderful landscapes. For us, every project is a challenge from which we always learn something new and interesting. We are designers, we design clothes, it is what we know, and being able to do it for all women and men respecting their customs and cultural traditions can only make us happy.”
The iconic fashion duo sent a series of extraordinary one-of-a-kind handmade looks down the runway for their Alta Moda, Alta Sartorial and Alta Gioielleria presentations that celebrated equestrian heritage. It was the first fashion show ever held at AlUla and the Italian pair held nothing back, even enlisting 12 Arabian horses to walk the runway with local wranglers in traditional thobes. The haute couture show was part of the Winter at Tantora Festival and featured 58 outfits from the Dolce & Gabbana archive in a memorable piece of theatre titled Ikmah Fashion Show.
