Frequently asked questions about Eid

Eid literally means “holiday” or “celebration”. Islam has two main Eid holidays: Eid AlFitr, which celebrates the end of Ramadan, and Eid AlAdha, which occurs right after the Hajj (pilgrimage).

Eid AlFitr is a three-day holiday known as the “Smaller Eid” compared to Eid AlAdha, which is four days long and known as the “Greater Eid”.

While some businesses in the city centre may close for Eid, the restaurants and shops in Old Town and AlJadidah have extended opening hours. For information on opening and closing times during Eid, please contact the restaurant directly.

Eid is a festive time in AlUla, with celebrations across the city for both Eid AlFitr and Eid AlAdha. From parades and music to beautiful lights and small giveaways, all ages are welcome to join in the merriment.
